Having worked professionally for 14 years as a Graphic Designer, Darren (aka Planetmirth) has earned himself a great reputation for producing high quality work over a wide range of disciplines.
As a Freelance Designer, 3D Animator and Visual Effects Artist, Darren can offer clients and agencies a breadth of knowledge and expertise normally only found in much larger (and more expensive) organisations.
In 2008 he was commissioned by the BBC to produced 9 “Avatar” animations for their “Teethgrinder” series.
In 2009 he won BeEntertainment’s “Super Heroes & Villains Writers’ and Illustrators’ Competition”.
As well as his freelance work, Darren is also currently working to establish a virtual online/TV production company to promote collaboration between people currently outside the filmmaking industry in order to: complete projects, highlight skills and turn hobbies into careers.

Here's Darren's attempt at the famous bullet time effect.
This is for a low budget feature "Avenging Angel" by Silver Sombrero Pictures in association with Darren (Planetmirth) and Corish Productions.
A compositing test to see if Darren could convincingly replace a protocol droid with a Dalek.
There is also a 3D stereoscopic version on Darren's Youtube Channel. You'll need 3D glasses to view it.
Within the first week of it being uploaded, this video received over 1 thousand views on Darren's YouTube channel, and continues to be one of the most popular uploads.

Made with a combination of Lightwave 3D, PFTrack and After Effects; this challenging shot has received much critical acclaim from various specialist 3D and visual effects forums.
This was Darren's first ever attempt at what is arguably the most difficult visual effects shot to create - combining a computer generated character with live action footage.
So successful was the test, that various companies have used it to demonstrate what can be achieved with a relatively low budget.

Darren put his Degree in Industrial Design to good use, when he helped those lovely people at Other Fish Limited design the Talon Grip.
The Talon Grip is the tangle free, hassle free way to prolong the life of all your cables.
As well as designing the product, Darren also created the packaging and website design.

In June 2008, Darren was commissioned by the BBC to produce 9 animations (The Avatars) for a new TV series called Teethgrinder.
It took 6 months of working around the clock to complete the 10 minutes of animation that first aired on 23 January 2009.
Many consider these animations to be the highlight of the series.

And if it's Graphic Design services that you need, Darren can handle that too...
